MISJA FITZGERALD MICHEL
Jazz guitarist, born in 1973 in Rotterdam. He grew up in Paris, where he graduated from the jazz class at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique. From 1993 he studied with Jim Hall, Billy Harper, and Kenny Werner at New York’s Mannes School of Music (The New School).
He has appeared at such festivals as Montreal Jazz, Jazz in Marciac, JVC Festival in Paris, Jazz à Vienne, Nancy Jazz Pulsations, Nice Jazz Festival, and Banlieues Bleues, as well as in major jazz clubs. Considered as one of the best contemporary jazz guitarists, he teaches jazz guitar at the conservatories in Paris-Saclay and Cergy-Pontoise.
His CD Encounter was nominated for the Djangos d’or de la guitare (2006), and his album Time of No Reply won the Victoires du jazz (2012). Apart from albums recorded as a soloist or band member, he has also created music for children, released by Didier Jeunesse.
